Inspirational Sites

Good design is hard to find, as is a site with well-written content. Below are a few sites that speak to me.

For CSS inspiration two good sources are the CSS Zen Garden and CSS Beauty. Both show how far you can go with tableless design.

Scripting News - Dave Winer's views on the Internet, business, technical issues, and more, all presented via blog format, which he's more or less credited with creating. And I'm talking about the concept of blogging, not just his personal format.

Massimo Kunstler - A personal web site of a media designer in Rome who has mastered the art of transitions. I LOVE this site, it's animated without being irritating and his audio is timed perfectly.

OGGI Furniture Store Besides offering cool furniture and lighting, this Flash site has a unique look and navigation. The audio really adds to the site without overwhelming it.

Light on dark showcases well-designed and well-coded sites with light text on a dark background.

Design Interact - Features a site of the week, along with interviews, critiques and information from & about leading web designers.

Macromedia Site of the Day - As you might expect, great examples of sites using Flash, Dreamweaver, Director, Fireworks, Cold Fusion and the rest of the Macromedia, er, Adobe products.

The Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange - This site is about the annual MITX awards given to the best of New England's interactive agencies and technology consulting firms for their creation of interactive media, most notably websites.

Cool Homepages - Although the presentation of the site is not that cool, the site is dedicated to presenting cool homepages. Some of which are about as cool as Cool Homepages (not), some of which are pretty amazing.
