When I moved into a condo in 1999 I quickly realized two things. First, that I had more rooms then pieces of furniture and second, nice furniture is very expensive. After attempts to purchase furniture at American TV and then Steinhafels failed, I decided to take a woodworking class through the UW Mini Courses and create my own.

So far I've made a game table, coffee table, and end table, all made of red oak.

As an aside, I purchased all my Red Oak and a lot of other supplies at Workbench Tool Company in Madison. They have a good selection, fair prices and are happy to help you out - even when you ask them to move 13 pallets for one board because it speaks to you. =]

My other creative outlet is photography. From a technical standpoint my shooting skills have suffered a bit, but I still really enjoy developing and printing, particularly black and white. My latest kick is trees, so I've included several below. For more photos, you can check out the rest of this site (they were all taken by me unless otherwise noted) or if you'd just like to see the good ones, go to the photo section of my portfolio. As usual, clicking on the thumbnail will get you a full-size view of the image.

An olive tree in Corfu, Greece. While there, I developed a fondness for things carved out of olive wood... it's considered very valuable because the tree naturally has so many holes it's difficult to get a solid piece of wood.
