I have found another material object which brings me great joy. After lamenting about the weight, age and size of my current 20″CRT for a number of years I broke down Friday afternoon and ordered a Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP 24-inch wide-screen flat panel monitor. Four days later it’s now sitting in my home office. It’s huge. I can see details on photos that I never even knew existed and use two applications, side by side—with tool bars—at the same time! And it rotates! I’m most amazed by the price though, since the last time I bought a monitor was 10 years ago… including taxes, shipping and an extended 5-year warranty it was still considerably less than half of what I paid for my last monitor. Score one for technology.
