This weekend my mom’s sisters, sisters-in-law and I gathered at Cyndy and Kev’s awesome “cabin” for the annual Gals Getaway. The main activity consisted of floating, followed closely by eating. Needless to say it was very relaxing. Sunday we were joined by the rest of Cyndy’s family, a few cousins and Bryan. There was more floating, a bit of jet skiing, more eating and then more floating, and the weather continued to be perfect.

Gals Getaway
Sunday, July 31st, 2005Vibe Syndicate plays the terrace
Saturday, July 30th, 2005Vibe Syndicate, an R&B band in which Bryan plays sax, played at the Memorial Union Terrace last night as part of the “Behind the Beat” concert series. It was a beautiful day and the terrace was packed. The band sounded great and it was fun to see a few people I hadn’t seen in a while. Definitely need to spend more time at the terrace, as I’ve been slacking at slacking so far this summer.
Schroeder’s new abode
Thursday, July 28th, 2005I ventured out to Mount Horeb last night to check out Schroeder’s new house. The stone archways, built-in furniture, solid doors, huge backyard and cistern are all really cool and the gardens are truly amazing. All three residents seem quite pleased with the situation. From there we ventured to the Grumpy Troll Brew Pub for dinner and the all-volunteer fire station where Matt volunteers when he’s not fire-fighting in Madison or saving lives on Mendota (or endangering them when he’s off duty). The trucks and museum/gallery are really neat – definitely worth a tour if you’re in the area.
Happy Birthday B!

Sailing in the Gulf Islands
Tuesday, July 12th, 2005We’re back with about 1,000 photos (literally) to weed through. Great trip all in all although it was a little chilly. There are several photos in the sailing section and several more on Flickr. You can view them by photostream (with brief captions) or slideshow. Note: several of these were taken by Bryan!
