I’m a sucker for cheap tickets and too easily persuaded by my brother’s “life is for living” philosophy. Thusly in mid-December I’ll be leaving one cold dreary place for another with much better art and people who will refer to me as a septic tank. Can’t wait!

Friday, November 7th, 2003Halloween ‘03
Saturday, November 1st, 2003What better way to celebrate Halloween than dressing up like a chicken, having a couple beers with a few friends, then having a couple more with 75,000 people on State Street, and then having a couple more at an after-bar. For better or worse this is Halloween, Madison style.

November 2003 update
Saturday, November 1st, 2003As hoped for, October was awesome this year. I spent a lot of time with good friends, visited with relatives, celebrated Halloween Madison style, discovered the zen of throwing clay, saw JackO and JeffO (and saw JeffO wakeboard in 50° water), made actual progress on my now mostly-red kitchen, and spent a fabulous weekend in Boston with Stace and Bill. Not to mention some great walks through the fall colors here in Madison and in Boston. And then, just when things couldn’t get much better my small fraction of Irish heritage kicked in and I experienced true joy. I finally got a decent parking space at work. I expect the Mastercard film crew to show up at any time now.
I also managed to get to the movie theatre twice, which is a personal best. I can highly recommend both Step into Liquid (in spite of it’s portrayal of Wisconsinites) and Mystic River, which was filmed in Boston.
November also brings the 3rd anniversary of julieolsen.com, which receives about 80 unique visitors per day. Which I think is interesting and very strange.
That’s it for this month. See Nov. 1, 2003 for more Halloween photos.
