Back to Boston

Tuesday, October 28th, 2003

Another fantastic trip to Boston to visit Stacy and Bill which again left me wondering why I don’t live there. I love the pace of life (and traffic!) there and the endless things to do. Where else can you go candlepin bowling in the ghetto with a bunch of harvard law students? Plus it was peak autumn colors, which looks even more amazing surrounded by all the red brick. My only complaint was that I wasn’t there long enough to see everyone I wanted to. Better plan another visit….

Awesome day. Watched Sutton tear around in the dogpark for a while and then carved pumpkins.

October 2003 update

Wednesday, October 1st, 2003

In a nutshell, September sucked this year. The summer weather ended at least 3 weeks prematurely and wakeboarding season came to a screeching halt only a week-and-a-half into September. Wetsuits don’t do much good when it’s 40° out with 20 mph winds. Add to this the absence of Stace. And the presence of my job. Not a good trio. For fun, I decided to finally get on with The Painting Of the Kitchen. Which so far has provided endless hours of wallpaper glue removal, drywall sanding and minimal enjoyment. I also managed to lose my parking permit and keys (independently) which is almost as bad as Schroeder, who lost his wallet and cell phone (independently). Did I mention I was also sick for a week and then spread it to half of my department at work? Yeah. Sucked.

There were pockets of happiness though, amidst the suckage. My last two days of wakeboarding were two of the best all summer. Deb & Michu’s wedding on the 20th was amazing. Jen and Anil stopped by while road tripping from Detroit to Portland. I went to the dentist. Got to see Nuka and his new place in Waukesha at his housewarming party. And spent some time with the Wild Woods Women at their WWW weekend (nothing says ‘wild’ like a quilt show). Oh, and the Colorado trip pictures are finally up, and the film is coming along nicely.

October promises to be better: the kitchen will actually get painted, I’m going to Boston, Jeff is flying in the weekend of the Ohio state game to make sure things are completely out of hand, Halloween candy will be everywhere, I’m starting a pottery class, and there’s always hope for a few days of Indian summer…
