Cinque Terre:
Looking out over the brightly coloured houses of Manarola while on our way to the next town, Riomaggiore.

Vernazza (Cinque Terre): Plenty of cliffs to jump off to beat the summer heat.

Pisa: The typical Pisa photo. Me acting like a typical tourist in front of the tower.

Florence: In a nutshell, JenO and I thought Florence or "Firenze" sucked. It was hot and crowded and dirty (although we liked the architecture and museums). Apparently we are the ONLY people on earth who share this opinion. The pic at left is of the Duomo Cathedral commissioned in 1296 and finally given it's famous roof top in 1417 by Brunelleschi.

Florence: The Ponte Vecchio bridge, famous for it's history (the origial bridge was built in 50 AD) survival thru WWII, shops, and reflection over the Arno.

Venice: Although hot and buggy, our stay in Venice was amazing... the canals, architecture and sheer wealth surrounding us had us snapping photos left and right.

Venice: A definite highlight of the trip was hanging out with the crew of the Lady Allison who gave us a tour of their yacht, fed us Old Milwaukee, fried Zucchini and pesto-covered-pasta (my favourite!) and then sent us home with long-sleeved shirts sporting a picture of the yacht.

Venice: We also spent a fair amount of time sitting in the Piazza of San Marco in front of St. Mark's Basilica watching the pigeons land on small children.

Rome: A picture of the interior of the coliseum - it was interesting to see where the trap doors, flood gates, wild beasts and gladiators were back in 100 AD.

Frankfurt, Germany: On the way home we spent half a day in Frankfurt, which was cold and quiet by comparison. It was interesting to see the traditional German architecture with the modern skyscrapers in the background.
