Juan-les-Pins: Located just west of Nice, Juan-les-Pins
is a resort community with beautiful tropical plants and
flowers EVERYWHERE.

Cannes: Just around the next bay is Cannes, the
site of the annual film festival. Pictured is one of us
(?) with our rental bikes in the 90+ degree heat. Next
stop: gelati.

De Plongée: JenO on the boat in the gulf
of Juan which took us scuba diving. Vis was good, but
not too many exotic plants/fish. Good way to escape the
heat though!

Chamonix:
After diving to 25 meters late in the day in Juan-les-pins,
we took a night train up to Chamonix and took a gondola
to the highest point in Europe 15 hours later! Itchy joints
aside, the view was spectacular. We also did some hiking
to slightly lower peaks... this pic shows Jen on "le Brevent"
- at a mere 2525 meters. Behind/below her you can see the
town of Chamonix and in the background, Aiguille du Midi. |

Aiguille
du Midi: This photo was taken at 3842 meters above
Chamonix. If you look closely you can see campers climbing
up the icy path thru the gusty winds back to shelter.

Mont-Blanc:
Taken from the gondola as we approached Mont-Blanc, which
is at 4807 meters. Both JenO and I nearly passed out due
to the thin air. For perspective, the tiny blue spot in
the middle of the photo is a lake and the cracks in the
snow are crevises, some as wide as 100 meters and 200
meters deep.
